Chipola Students Plant Trees On Arbor Day—Chipola College Environmental Science Students celebrated Arbor Day with Barry Stafford, Senior Forester with the Florida Forest Service in Jackson County. Stafford introduced the students to careers in forestry, followed by the history of Arbor Day. He assisted students in the planting of ten trees on campus, including: Holly, Fringe,Dogwood and Maple. Stafford assists landowners with the health of their trees and forests. The lecture applied course objectives such as sustainable land management, prescribed burns, and the roles of trees in the Florida ecosystem. Positions in forestry such as consulting, private foresters, urban forestry and forest ranger were discussed.
