Academic Advisement
SSS advisors, who are trained CC academic advisors, assist SSS students in determining educational goals, selecting courses, and registering for classes. Academic plans are maintained for each participant.
Financial Aid Counseling
SSS students are advised of opportunities and priority deadlines of financial aid and scholarships. Assistance with completing the FAFSA online, scholarship searches, and scholarship applications are available.
Career Counseling
SSS students' interests, skills aptitudes, and abilities are explored to assist them in the career decison-making process. Career choices are matched to academic goals and corresponding majors.
Transfer Counseling
SSS students who plan to transfer to an upper-level institution upon graduation are informed about academic requirements for university transfer, application, financial aid, and houseing. SSS students participate in college trips to local and regional universities.
Cultural Events
To ensure an increased knowledge and exposure to educational and cultural events, SSS students participate in trips and activities designed to broaden students' life experiences.
Resource Library
Textbooks in more general education subjects, calculators, and laptop computers are available for use. Students may see an advisor to access these resources.
Peer Mentoring
Students have access to an SSS peer mentor, who is a successful SSS student, providing help, support, and encouragement to new students entering the program.
