Chipola Offers State Approved Educator Preparation Institute
Chipola College is designated by The Florida Department
of Education as an Educator
Preparation Institute.
The Educator Preparation Institute is a program for college graduates
with a bachelor’s degree—in a subject other than education— who want to
earn the credentials to become a Florida certified teacher. The
course of study, which can be completed in as little as a year, offers
programs leading to certification in all certification areas.
Students must complete 15 semester hours of coursework as well as
demonstrate the Florida Educator Accomplish Practices (FEAPs) some field
experience. Enrollees must pass all three portions of the Florida
Teacher Certification Examination during the program. Those who successfully
complete the program will receive certification from the Department of
Education.
In addition to the Educator Preparation Institute for
students already holding a bachelor’s degree, Chipola also awards bachelor’s
degrees in Mathematics Education (6–12), Biology Education (6–12), Middle
Grades Mathematics Education (5–9), Middle Grades Science Education (5–9),
Elementary Education (K-6) and Exceptional Student Education (K-12).
