 Bowl State Championship
 March 21-22, 2014

The Chipola Brain Bowl team won the 2013-2014 FCSAA State Championship March 21-22, 2014, defeating Broward College in the final 580-370 to claim the title. The Chipola team has won seven consecutive titles, and now ties Broward with the most titles in Florida community college history. 35

Qualification for the state tournament begins with 25 teams across four regions in the state of Florida. The top two teams from each region automatically qualify and two wildcard teams are selected from the remaining teams. Chipola qualified by winning the Panhandle Region. The Chipola team is also the NAQT(National Academic Quiz Tournament) community college national runner-up. The team finished second in a field of 65 from across the nation earlier this month. The team was still able to capture the state title, since NAQT and FCSAA are different organizations.

Chipola player Jacob Leff  was awarded the David Ehlert High Point Award, averaging 92 points per game. Jacob is the third Chipola player to win this award, following in the footsteps of Dallin Kelson and Paul Kelson. Other Chipola team members are: William Singleton, Wesley Chevillot, Rebecca Delgado, and Ashley Delameter. Chipola coaches are Stan Young and Dr. Robert Dunkle. Stan and Robert have coached the Chipola teams for ten years.

Chipola will now compete in the ICT (International Collegiate Tournament) in April, 2014. The tournament will be held in Chicago. The top four community colleges earn a spot in the four-year college tournament. Chipola finished seventh overall last year at the ICT.

 February 28-March 1, 2014
The Chipola College Brain Bowl Team finished second in the Community College National Championship held in Atlanta, Georgia. Chipola entered the championship game with a disadvantage, after losing to Valencia in the championship bracket earlier in the day. Chipola had to defeat Valencia twice to claim the title. The Chipola team forced a second game by defeating Valencia in the first game 335-280. However, Valencia claimed the title by defeating Chipola 405-245 in the second game.  Jacob Leff finished third in individual scoring, while William Singleton finished 13th. The other members of Chipola A are Wesley Chevillot and Rebecca Delgado.
  Two-Year Sectional
 January 24-25, 2014

Based on  Chipola’s performance at the Community College Sectional Championship Tournament, Chipola has placed three teams in the 2014 Community College National Championship Tournament to be held in Atlanta on February 28 – March 1.  The Chipola teams earned their bids by performing well at the Sectional Tournament hosted by Chipola on January 24-25. Eight sectionals across the nation were held with a total of 65 teams competing for 24 spots.

Chipola A will enter the tournament as the #1 seed based on their performance at the sectional. Chipola A averaged the most points per game of all  the 65 teams across the nation.  Chipola A also had the top 3 individual scorers at the Northwest FL sectional, with Jacob Leff, William Singleton, and Wesley Chevillot, placing #1, #2, and #3 respectively.  

Chipola B will enter as the #15 seed and Chipola C will be the #21 seed. Vallen Driggers from Chipola C was 4th in overall scoring, and Trenton McDaniel from Chipola B was 6th overall.  Chipola B team members are: Trenton McDaniel, Caroline Nichols, Alana Hearn, and Fletcher Dilmore

Chipola C team members are:  Vallen Driggers, Masha Yaroshenko, Ashley Delameter, and Will Glover.

 Delta Burke Invitation
 Valencia College
 November 8-9, 2013

The Chipola Brain Bowl team finished the 2013 Fall Season by winning the 2013 Delta Burke Invitational. The tournament was held at Valencia College West Campus in Orlando, FL. The tournament had 30 teams, including most of the community colleges in Florida, along with the  University of Central Florida and Mercer College. The team defeated Broward College 380-145 in the final match to claim the title. Broward College pulled off an upset in the semifinals by defeating Valencia Colelge 300-225.  The Chipola team finished the tournament undefeated, winning all 12 matches. The Chipola team averaged 465.0 points per games, with an average margin of victory of 406.7 points per game. Chipola College has now won the Delta Burke Invitational six years in a row. The Chipola team will not play again until late January in the NAQT Florida Sectionals.

 Georgia Tech
 November 3, 2013

The Chipola team had an impressive showing  at the ACF Fall held at Georgia Tech. Competing as the only community college in the field, Chipola finished with a 6-4 record, recording wins over South Carolina, Auburn A, Auburn B, College of Charleston, and Dunwoody. Chipola’s losses came against Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Georgia, and Dorman(the #4 ranked high school team in the nation).  Chipola finished 9th overall at ACF Fall.

 October 25-26, 2013

Chipola A team members are:  William Singleton, Jacob Leff, Wesley Chevillot, and Rebecca Delgado.  Jacob Leff led the Chipola team in scoring, finishing 4th in individual scoring. William Singleton also placed in the top ten, finishing 9th overall.

Chipola A team members are: Captain William Singleton, Jacob Leff, Wesley Chevillot, and Rebecca Delgado.   All four Chipola players had a strong tournament. William Singleton finished 3rd in overall scoring, and Jacob Leff finished 7th.
