5 Year History of Chipola Athletics
In 2007 Chipola
College became the first and only Florida College to win
State and Regional Championships in all four sports in
the same year.
In addition, our Baseball and Softball
programs both won National Championships while our Men’s
Basketball program was runner-up at their National
Tournament and the Women’s Basketball program placed
fifth in their National Tournament.
In 2008, Chipola
College added a new sport, Women's Cross Country. Our
Softball team won back to back Panhandle Conference
championships. Our Men's Basketball and Baseball
programs won back to back FCCAA State/NJCAA Region VIII
championships. In National Tournament play, The Baseball
team finished 6th and the Men's Basketball team finished
7th in the Nation.
In 2009, Chipola Men's and Women's
Basketball teams won their respective State/Region VIII
Tournaments and each finished 3rd at their respective
National Tournament. Baseball finished 2009 with a
Runner-up finish in the State/Region VIII Tournament.
Softball qualified for their State/Region Tournament and
finished 6th. Our Women's Cross Country Team had a great
year and was named an Academic All-American Team by the
NJCAA Cross Country Coaches Association.
In 2010, the
Chipola Men's Basketball program was named "The JUCO
Men's Basketball Program of the Decade" by Basketball
Times. The Lady Indian Softball Team captured the
Panhandle Conference Championship, Atlantic District
Championship, FCCAA State Championship, and finished 5th
at the National Championships in St. George, Utah. All
sports placed team members on the conference and state
All Academic Teams.
In 2011, the Chipola Baseball
Program won another State/Regional Title and finished
5th in the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, CO.
Chipola’s Softball Program won back-to-back Panhandle
Conference Championships and competed in the
State/Regional Tournament. The Chipola Men’s Basketball
Program won the Panhandle Conference Title and finished
second in the State/Regional Tournament. All sports
placed team members on the conference and state All
Academic Teams.
