Chipola College’s Jamarcus Ellis is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Ellis, a sophomore combo guard from Chicago, helped the Indians stay on course for another trip to the postseason by keying two big victories last week. In No. 1 Chipola’s biggest win to date, Ellis posted 20 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal in a 65-58 win at No. 2 Tallahassee. With his team trailing by four with 6:30 left, Ellis scored Chipola’s next 12 points during a decisive 12-2 run. He followed that with an 11-point, 4-rebound, 4-assist, 1-steal night against Pensacola on Saturday. For the week, Ellis averaged 15.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game while shooting 48 percent from the floor and a perfect 9-of-9 from the foul line.
