Heiar Honored For 100 Wins

Chipola College head men’s
basketball coach Greg Heiar was
recognized recently for his 100th
victory.
Chipola president Dr. Gene Prough
and athletic director Dale O’Daniel
presented a plaque to coach Heiar,
whose current record is 106-11.
His winning percentage of 90.4
percent is the highest of all
panhandle coaches. He is three time
Panhandle Coach of the Year, with a
47-3 home-court record.
Heiar has coached three All
Americans, including NJCAA Player of
the year Jamarcus Ellis.
He has coached 17 All Conference
Players and 14 Division 1 players.
In his first year at Chipola as
assistant to Chris Jans, the Indians
won the state title and finished
sixth in the nation.
In three years as head coach, Heiar
has led his team to two state titles
and a runner-up finish at the 2007
National Tournament. In his four
years at Chipola, 24 of 26
sophomores have graduated.
