David Lane enters his fifth season at the helm of the Lady
Indians.
Lane’s fourth season was one of many highs and
lows.
While fighting through another difficult schedule and
several early season setbacks, the Lady Indians once again accumulated a
number of big wins.
The Lady Indians defeated national powerhouses
Trinity Valley (twice) and Southeastern Illinois, yet also suffered
disappointing loses to Kirkwood (eventual Division II national champions)
and Georgia Perimeter.
Chipola was able to gather themselves together
and fought for another second place Panhandle Conference finish and a fifth
consecutive FCCAA/NJCAA Region VIII Tournament appearance.
Different players rose to the occasion each
night as Chipola won its third straight FCCAA/NJCAA Region VIII
championship, once again defeating Gulf Coast in the finals 60-57.
In Salina, Odessa (TX) once again all but ended
Chipola’s season with a defeat in the second round of the National
Tournament.
The Lady Indians battled back with wins over
Copiah-Lincoln and Salt Lake C.C. to claim fifth place.
Lane’s third season at Chipola continued to see
history made and records fall.
The regular season began with an eight-week run
as the number two ranked team in the country, the highest ranking ever for
the Lady Indians.
