SCHOLARSHIP QUALIFICATIONS, PROCEDURES, POLICY STATEMENTS
The following qualifications and procedures are for the selection of the recipients of Chipola College Theatre Scholarships.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- All candidates must be enrolled at Chipola College or must be accepted for enrollment as a student.
- All candidates must declare a major in theatre.
- All candidates must have achieved a scholastic grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 (C) or better in high school and if applicable, college course work completed.
- Candidates may qualify as either theatre technicians, (costuming, properties, sets, lighting, business and publicity), performers, or both.
PROCEDURES:
- Submit a completed Theatre Scholarship Application and Foundation Scholarship Application Form along with personal letter telling a little about yourself and your future plans. Be sure to include why you feel you need help in going to college and how you feel you can benefit from the college experience. Bring/send all of these documents before or at the time of your audition.
- Furnish 3 letters of recommendation which address the applicant’s talent, character, ability to follow-through on assignments, ability to work independently, and academic ability.
- Audition time: Audition times will be scheduled with individual students following receipt of Registration Form.
- Prepare an audition piece consisting of two monologues (you supply the pianist if a musical selection is to be included).
- The two pieces should be of a contrasting nature and should last no more than 5 minutes total time.
PRODUCTION EXPERIENCE:
Please make a complete listing of high school, college, or community theatre experience. Also list any training or coursework you may have had to include music, dance, speaking, drama. Additionally, any experience in construction, electricity, design, art, costuming, etc. would be helpful to note.
Attach any additional sheets you need, and include/attach your resume if available.
