Dr. Yoshikawa-Powell received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance from Arizona State University under the tutelage of renowned American pianist Robert Hamilton and holds additional performance degrees with distinction honors from the University of Victoria and the University of British Columbia where her former teachers include Arthur Rowe and Jane Coop. She has also studied with the late Gyorgy Sebok of Indiana University Bloomington at the Banff Centre for the Performing Arts and Alexander Toradze at Indiana University South Bend. Dr. Yoshikawa has presented master classes in North America and abroad, and has taught at the University of British Columbia, Grand Canyon University, and Arizona State University. A frequent collaborator in chamber music with some of the world’s finest musicians, she performs and tours as a member of the Yoshikawa-Powell Saxophone/Piano Duo with her husband and Chipola music faculty member Daniel Powell. She is currently on faculty at Chipola College, and she is on the roster of Recording Artists for Eroica Classical Recordings.
