All Night Yahtzee

NOVEMBER 7, 2017

ALL NIGHT YAHTZEE – 7 p.m., Center for the Arts, Theatre.   In the fall of 1998, Brian Haverkate gathered fearless singers, who needed not instrumental accompaniment, to form the first group of its kind at Florida State University. Dubbed All-Night Yahtzee, the group held its first concert in the spring of 1999, and thus, a cappella music was born at FSU and has since evolved into one of the most noted groups in the nation.  Yahtzee competes in the International Competition for Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) annually, and has received numerous awards and recognition over the years. They have been featured on the Pitch-Perfect reality tv series, and Sing It On on Pop Network. Members come from different places, musical backgrounds and interests, but when blended together bring great music, entertainment, and a heck of a good time. Learn more at www.anyahtzeefsu.com.  A Meet the Artist Reception for season ticket holders will be hosted by Peoples South Bank.  Tickets ($20 for adults and $10 for ages 18 and under) may be purchased at the Chipola Box Office or online at www.chipola.edu/boxoffice beginning Sept 25. Jason Farnham

JANUARY 18, 2018

JASON FARNHAM – 7 p.m., Center for the Arts, Theatre.  "Take Jerry Lee Lewis, add some Victor Borge, Beethoven on steroids, garnish with Schroeder from Peanuts, throw it all in a blender, and what comes out is an unmistakable Jason Farnham show." Fans have affectionately dubbed him "Schroeder" from Peanuts because of his toy piano, his witty Victor Borge-style piano comedy antics and the clever way he interacts with the audience. The variety includes contemporary romantic piano, jazz, bossa nova, blues, stride piano, and classical with a modern twist! Jason is always looking for an interesting spin on the status quo, a way to take a classic and turn it on its ear, soooo... the newest addition to his piano show is Fur Elise with a techno-rock-dance beat: “Fur Crying Out Loud Elise, Let’s Dance!” And Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca has now become "Rondo Alla Techno". He's also re-envisioned Autumn Leaves into a fusion of bossa nova and samba styles. Playing the piano while lying upside down Amadeus-style? Check. And always included in the lineup are a handful of Jason’s signature original piano pieces that his fans adore. Learn more at www.jasonfarnham.com.  A Meet the Artist Reception for season ticket holders will be hosted by First Federal Bank of Florida.  Tickets ($20 for adults and $10 for ages 18 and under) may be purchased at the Chipola Box Office or online at www.chipola.edu/boxoffice beginning Sept 25. For more information, contact the Box Office at 850-718-2420.
