Bus Stop
November 6-9, 2008
7:30p.m. Thurs.-Sat. 2p.m. Sunday
Chipola Theatre
By William Inge
During a howling snowstorm, a busload of weary
travelers must hole up at a roadside diner until morning. A
nightclub singer named Cherie has been kidnapped by a young cowboy
who is ready to sling her over his shoulder and carry her, kicking
and screaming, down the aisle. Even as she’s ducking out from under
his clumsy embraces, she muses, “Somehow deep inside of me I got a
funny feeling I’m gonna end up in Montana...” As a counterpoint to
the romance, the proprietor of the cafe and the bus driver at last
find time to develop a friendship of their own; a middle age scholar
comes to terms with himself; and a young waitress also gets her
first taste of romance. “Inge...brings to the theatre a kind of
warmhearted compassion, creative vigor, freshness of approach and
appreciation of average humanity that can be wonderfully touching
and stimulating.” - NY Post.

Beanie and the
Bamboozling Book Machine
May 14, 2009
7:00p.m.
Chipola Theatre
Authors: Bob May, Christopher Tibbetts, and Roy C.
Booth
Beanie Boren, a science wiz who is not keen on reading,
has designed a book reading machine for the science fair. The machine
combines a computer, a mini video camera, and a contraption of Beanie’s
own design to enable it to read one to three books at once.
Unfortunately, the machine is neither user friendly nor bug free. When
Beanie turns it on, lights flash, thunder booms, and out pop the witches
from Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, and the Wizard of Oz, each set to
wreak havoc! Beanie must get them back into the books with help from the
good guys. Afterward, he is eager to read - the old fashioned way.
