Child Care

All classes offered must be prepaid in order to complete your registration.  You can pay for your classes in one of four ways.  You can pay in person by stopping in the Continuing Education Department during regular hours; mail in to Continuing Education, Chipola  College, 3094 Indian Circle, Marianna, FL  32446; fax in to (850) 718-2472; or phone in to (850) 718-2239.  The class count is based on registered students.  If you have not paid for the class, you are not registered.  Continuing Education Registration Form

Birth Through Five

F lorida C hild C are P rofessional C redential Classes

Registration Information:

Students electing to take these classes for clock hour credit should register in the Continuing Education Department at least 2 business days prior to class.  The clock hour registration fee per class is $210.  Continuing Education Registration Form

Students electing to take these classes for academic credit need to apply for admission and follow registration dates/guidelines as published in the college calendar.  Admission-Enrolling-and-Registration Information

Child Growth & Development: 

This Florida Child Care Provider Credential (FCCPC) course is a study of the growth and development of the child from conception through age five, including the physical, social, emotional and mental development of the young child, influence of environment and principles and theories of development. 

This class will meet on Mondays from 6 - 9 pm, August 24 - December 7, 2009

The registration fee is $210 (clock hours).

Curriculum for Young Children:

This course is a study of the techniques of using language arts, science, art, social studies, math, and physical activities with young children with emphasis on interdisciplinary learning. Prerequisite is CHD 1220, Child Growth and Development.

This class will meet on Mondays from 6 - 9 pm, January 11 - April 26, 2010. 

The registration fee is $210(clock hours).

Observing & Recording Child Behavior:  

This Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) course is designed to increase objectivity and proficiency in observing, recording, and interpreting children’s behavior in addition to increasing awareness of normative patterns of behavior of children from birth through 5 years of age.  This course includes observation of infants, toddlers, and a case study of a child from this age group. 

This class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 - 9:20 pm, May 12 - June 21, 2010.

The registration fee is $210 (clock hours).

Internship:

This course provides on-the-job training toward the Child Development Associate Credential, Occupational Certificate, and Associate in Science Degree. The student will be assigned a qualified supervisor appointed by t e respective agency for which he/she works. Prerequisites are CHD 1430, Observing and Recording Child Behavior and CHD 2432, Curriculum for Young Children.

This class will meet on Thursdays from 6 - 9 pm, January 7 - April 29, 2010.  

The registration fee is $210 (clock hours).

Early Care & Education Administrative Overview:

This is the foundation course for administrators/directors of early care and education programs to obtain a credential as part of the minimum child care licensing standards.

This class will meet on Tuesdays from 6 - 9 pm,  January 12 - April 27, 2010.

The registration fee is $210 (clock hours).

Introductory Child Care Training

           PART I – all child care personnel are required to complete the following 30-clock-hours which are divided into five training modules:

Behavioral Observation and Screening

Child Abuse and Neglect

Child Growth and Development

Health, Safety and Nutrition

Rules and Regulations

          PART II – all child care personnel are required to complete 10-clock-hours of training.
