Chipola College's Cosmetology Program is an industry that opens opportunity with established businesses to building your own company. the industry requires professionals to keep up with new products, equipment, and technology. Beyond receiving program certification from Chipola College, students are prepared for successful completion of the State Board Licensing Examination. If you are people-oriented, self-motivated, independent, and career minded, then this may be your field of choice.
This is a
competency-based, self-paced program with open-entry. Interested
individuals should contact the
instructor for specific information. The
TABE
(Test of Adult Basic Education) is
required with program entry. There is no
charge for this test. The test
provides faculty with information to assist students
with academic needs, while allowing
them the opportunity to work in their
desired program area.
Cosmetology is designed to prepare students for employment as a licensed hairdresser and cosmetologist, registered nails or facial specialist, and to provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in these occupations. Students learn communication and employability skills; develop safe and efficient work practices; learn applicable Florida cosmetology law and rules; become knowledgeable of cosmetology, nails specialist, and facial specialist industry; develop a working knowledge of the chemistry, bacteriology, anatomy and physiology in relation the field; learn the art of make-up, and develop skills in performing the manipulative and electrical techniques required in the practice of cosmetology. This program prepares the student for successful completion, which is required for the practice of cosmetology. A special fee is charged for liability insurance.
