The Success Center is a modern approach to improving the basic skills needed for success in today's world. The returning student will find this program very helpful in preparing for a future at Chipola College. Along with the basic skills review, a student, upon request, can receive career assessment, learning styles inventory, and study skills instruction. Trained personnel assist students in determining any academic weakness which might prevent them from achieving their goals. Once an area is identified, an individualized prescription of work is developed to correct problem areas.
How? By Using Different/Individualized Teaching Styles The Success Center is not like a regular classroom. Students work at their own pace with classroom materials (books, audiovisual equipment, and computer software) provided. Instructors and staff are available to help throughout the learning process. The Success Center Provides Support Services For Students Pursuing a Career in Chipola's Multiple Choice Of Programs/Careers.
Enrollment in the Success Center is open any time during the semester. The length of time students work in the center is dependent upon their motivation and need. As students progress through the center, counselors are available to direct them to Workforce Development Programs and financial resources to fund attendance in these programs. (Programs are listed on this webpage.) Test Requirement For Program Entrance/Completion The Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) is required for the Success Center and most certificate programs. Other testing requirements are required for A.S. and A.A. programs. The testing results assist staff in pinpointing strengths and weaknesses in the basic skills areas and assigning appropriate instructional materials if needed. There is no fee for the TABE for students who are seeking enrollment at Chipola College or students pursuing a General Equivalency Diploma (GED). All others must pay a fee of $10.00 at the time of testing. Offered: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (M-R) & 5:00 p.m. (T&R) for the Fall/Spring Semester: Summer Session I and Summer Session II - 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (M-R)
