Employers Wanted For Career Fair
Thousands of area high school students are expected to attend the Annual Regional Career Fair Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Any and all businesses, companies or government entities are welcome to set up booths to introduce students to career opportunities. 

 The one-day event is for area high school students and private school students. The fair is sponsored by Career Source Chipola, Florida Panhandle Technical College, Chipola College and the county school systems in Calhoun, Holmes, Jackson, Liberty, and Washington.

The fair provides opportunities for students to interact with representatives from various career fields to explore career and educational opportunities after high school.

The event will be held at Eastside Baptist Church located at 4785 Highway 90 in Marianna.

Hurricane Recovery 
Hurricane Michael forever changed the counties served by Chipola College. Many Chipola students and employees still have unmet needs related to the recovery. The North Florida Inland Long Term Recovery Group has resources available to help anyone who needs help. For information, visit the
Chipola Engineering Tech Open House is Nov. 12 
The Chipola College Engineering Technology program will hold an Open House, Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 3 to 7 p.m., in Building O on the Chipola campus.

Prospective students will be able to meet instructors and tour the $1 million engineering laboratory. Information will be provided about full scholarships, program requirements and jobs available after taking only four classes in the program.

Student and Military Appreciation Day 
During the week of Veteran’s Day, students are welcome to visit with veterans and college representatives to learn more about scholarships and resources at Chipola College. Representatives from the US Marine Corps will also be on campus to discuss how to enroll in a bachelor's program at Chipola and complete a program of study while working to become a commissioned officer in the Marines after graduation.

Holland Nursing Scholarship Available
The Sydney Holland Memorial Nursing Scholarship is available for students enrolled in the Chipola RN program or accepted into the RN program for Spring 2020 semester. Deadline to apply is Nov. 20. Completed applications should be mailed to: Sydney Holland Memorial Nursing Scholarship Committee, 3482 Live Oak Lane, Marianna, FL 32446.

Florida Blue Allied Health Scholarship Available At Chipola
MARIANNA—The Chipola College Foundation is now accepting applications for the Florida Blue Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship with a deadline of Nov. 20.

Approximately 10 partial $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in the Spring 2020 semester. The need-based scholarship is available to Florida residents enrolled in a community college in one of the following eligible programs: Nursing Assistant, Practical Nurse, Associate Degree Nurse, Baccalaureate Degree Nurse, Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic. 

Applicants must have applied for Federal Pell Grant (FAFSA) to qualify. The Scholarship application, personal letter and transcripts must be submitted to the Foundation Office by Nov. 20. Application files must be complete.

Students entering college in Spring 2020 must have a 2.0 GPA at high school graduation or have earned a GED.  Students previously enrolled in college must have both a cumulative and semester GPA of 2.0.  High school transcripts must be submitted if the student is enrolling in college for the first time. College transcripts must be submitted if the applicant has earned more than 24 college credit hours.  If less than 24 hours have been earned, submit both high school and college transcripts. First Generation Scholarship Available At Chipola
MARIANNA—The Chipola Foundation is accepting applications for the First Generation in College Scholarship for the Spring 2020 semester.  Several partial scholarships may be awarded.

Completed applications must be received in the Foundation by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Students must have applied for Federal Pell Grant (FAFSA) and have been determined to be Pell eligible and still have an unmet financial need in order to apply.  Current Chipola students must have a 2.0 college GPA. New students must have a 2.0 high school GPA.

The scholarship is available to Florida residents who enroll as undergraduate, degree-seeking students for a minimum of six hours per term.  Students must demonstrate financial need and must come from a family where neither parent has completed a bachelor’s degree. 

Students must submit a personal letter and an application with all required items by Nov. 20.

Blood Drive
SGA will sponsor a blood drive on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The Oneblood Mobile will be parked at on College Street near Building Z.  Donors must have a picture ID to donate.
Tickets on Sale for Chipola Christmas Concert
MARIANNA—Tickets are on sale for the Chipola Music Department’s “A Chipola Christmas,” set for Thursday and Friday, Dec. 5-6, at 7 p.m., in the Chipola Center for the Arts.  

Presented by the Chipola Fine and Performing Arts Department under the direction of Angie White and Dr. Josh Martin, the show is the perfect start to the holiday season. The concert will feature Chipola music students and community members performing the sounds of the season in a beautiful holiday setting.

Chipola Messiah Sing Along is Dec. 12
Chipola College will host a Messiah Sing-Along Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. in the Chipola Center for the Arts. All music lovers are invited to bring their own score to sing along or to just enjoy this timeless holiday classic.

All area singers are invited to join the Community Chorus which practices Tuesday nights at 6 p.m. in the Chipola McLendon Fine Arts Building on Indian Circle.

Chipola Artist Series Presents 'Jukebox Saturday Night' Jan. 9
MARIANNA—The Chipola Artist Series will present Jukebox Saturday Night, Jan. 9, 2020. Glenn Miller Productions presents a music review of the Big Bands during the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s.

This fun-filled event for all ages captures the sounds, melodies and lyrics performed by an energetic group of instrumentalists and vocalists who keep audience members moving in their seats, tapping toes and clapping hands.

Jukebox Saturday Night celebrates America’s Swing Era performing the greatest hits as recorded by Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw, Cab Calloway, Benny Goodman, Count Basie and more. Vocal selections will include songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Rosemary Clooney, and other vocal idols.

A Meet the Artist Reception for season ticket holders will be hosted by First Commerce Credit Union.

Backpack for Kids
TRiO Society members and Chipola staff contributed to Backpack for Kids of Jackson County’s food drive. Non-perishable food items such as large/regular size boxes of cereal, peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti sauce and pasta were donated.  The items donated will be used to feed youth during the Thanksgiving break.

Backpack for Kids of Jackson County is a 501-3C non-profit organization ran exclusively by volunteers. 100% of ALL contributions go directly to feeding the needy, displaced and homeless children in our county. TRiO Society sponsors are Kristie Mosley, Ashley Harvey and Sarieta Bryant.
