2014-15 Competition Results                                The 2014-15 Team

The Chipola Brain Bowl Team finished fourth at the 2015 FCSAA Brain Bowl State Championship held on March 13-14 at Pasco Hernando College. State College-Manatee won the championship, breaking Chipola’s run of seven straight championships. The Chipola team almost made it back to the championship game, but close losses to Broward (230-245) and Indian River (235-275) in the last 2 games kept the Chipola team from advancing to the championship game. Manatee beat Indian River in the final to claim the title.

Chipola advanced to the state tournament by winning the Panhandle Regional back in February. Chipola team members are: Brent Patten, Vallen Driggers, Jimmy Brown, and Will Glover.

Brent Patten placed in the top 10 individually for Chipola, finishing 9th overall.

The Chipola Brain Bowl Team finished 6th in the nation this past weekend at the CCCT(Community College Championship Tournament). Chipola competed with 24 teams from around the nation for the national championship. The team finished 1st in the initial bracket of 6 teams, finishing 5-0. This placed the team in the championship bracket of 8 teams, where the Chipola team went 2-4. Chipola had wins over Seminole and Valencia B, but losses to Manatee, Valencia A, Broward, and Redlands kept the team from finishing higher. Manatee(State College) went on to win the championship, beating Valencia A in the final.

Chipola qualified for the CCCT by winning the Northwest FL Sectional back in January.

Chipola team members are: Brent Patten, Vallen Driggers, Jimmy Brown, and Ben Whiddon.

Brent Patten was the highest Chipola scorer, placing 13th in overall individual scoring.

Chipola will next play at the FCSAA State Tournament on March 12-14 at Pasco-Hernando College. Chipola will be trying to defend the state title. Chipola is the seven time defending state champions.

Chipola Blue(A) and Chipola Gold(B) Brain Bowl teams both advanced to the FCSAA State Tournament to be held at Pasco Hernando State College on March 12-14, 2015. Chipola Blue won the Panhandle Regional finishing 7-0, and Chipola Gold placed third in the Panhandle Regional with a 4-3 record.

The top 2 teams from each of the four regions(Panhandle, East Central, West Central, and South) automatically advance to the state tournament. Two wildcard bids are granted based on overall stats. Chipola Blue received the automatic bid and Chipola Gold received one of the two wildcard bids.

Chipola Blue team members are: Jimmy Brown, Vallen Driggers, Will Glover, and Brent Patten.

Chipola Gold team members are: Ben Whiddon, Ashley Delameter, Chance Pender, Katrina Milliser, and Olivia Saunders.

Four Chipola players finished in the top 10 in individual scoring: Jimmy Brown (3rd), Ben Whiddon (5th), Vallen Driggers(7th), and Brent Patten(10th).

Chipola will be vying for its 8th straight state championship. Attached above are the stats from all the regionals.

The Chipola Brain Bowl  A Team won the North Florida NAQT Sectional January 23-24, earning an automatic bid to the Community College National Championship to be held in Atlanta, Georgia on February 27-28. The Chipola team went undefeated (9-0) in the tournament. Other teams in attendance were: Tallahassee, Gulf Coast, Northwest Florida, Pensacola, Florida Gateway, Florida Jacksonville, and South Georgia.

Chipola A team members are: Brent Patten, Vallen Driggers, Jimmy Brown and Ben Whiddon. The well-balanced team all finished in the top 16 of individual scorers. Vallen Driggers placed 6th, Brent Patten 7th, Ben Whiddon 11th, and Jimmy Brown 16th.

Chipola will next play at Gulf Coast on February 6-7 in the Panhandle State Regional, and then on the Community College National Championship in late February. Chipola finished as the national runner-up last year, and is the seven time defending state champions.

The Chipola Brain Bowl teams finished 3rd and 4th respectively on January 9, 2015 in Lake City. Both Chipola A and Chipola B finished the tournament with 7-2 records. A loss to Chipola B kept Chipola A from being in a 3 way tie for first. Central FL and TCC both finished the tournament at 8-1 to share the title.
