DISPLACED HOMEMAKER TRUST FUND PROGRAM

"NEW BEGINNINGS"

"New Beginnings" is the Displaced Homemaker Trust Fund Program for Chipola College and the State of Florida’s Agency for Workforce Innovation. It assists qualified individuals in work skills needed to re-enter the workforce.

To qualify for assistance through the Displaced Homemaker "New Beginnings" Program, individuals must:

• Be 35 years of age or older.

• Need job training and have lost their main source of income due to divorce, separation, death or disability of a spouse, or

• Have been on public assistance such as food stamps or unemployment compensation.

• Want to become self-sufficient.

This grant program offers a variety of training opportunities in certificate programs, continuing education or  associate degree programs. Services available include financial counseling, academic counseling, job referral and placement through the One-Stop Center, community referrals, and testing. This program can assist with tuition and/or books and can supplement PELL Grant.
