University of West Florida
Specific Requirements

  1. Application for Admission:  Fee - $20.00

  2. Immunization – Each student must provide documented proof of immunity to measles and rubella, effective Fall Term 1986. Proof is required before you can register at a university.

  3. AA Except for CLAST – Students who have not taken and passed the CLAST are admitted and given full benefit of the AA degree. Such students must register for and take the CLAST during their first term of enrollment.
  4.
  5. Recalculating the GPA of Community College AA Degree Transfer Students – Only the last grade earned is used to calculate the GPA. UWF does not penalize the AA transfer student for withdrawals, but any incompletes remaining on the final transcript will be calculated as "F’s." UWF takes the "best grade" when recalculating the GPA. For example, if a student takes a course and gets a D, then retakes the course and gets an F, we use the D, if the student doesn’t repeat the course and get a better grade.

  6.
  7. Foreign Language Exit/Graduation Requirements – As a general policy, the State University System requires that a student complete two years of the same foreign language in high school, OR two semesters of the same foreign language at the community college. Following are some exceptions and/or additional requirements.

It is possible for a student with an AA degree (or AA except for CLAST) to be admitted without fulfilling the foreign language requirement. In this case, the eight-semester-hour foreign language requirement becomes an exit requirement, and must be completed before graduation from UWF. American Sign Language is accepted. Certain majors may require additional foreign language hours as an exit requirement.
