Transferring without an AA Degree

Applicants to a university who have completed less than 60 credit hours are required to:

  1. Be in good standing and eligible to return to the last institution attended as a degree-seeking student.
     
  2. Meet the state university minimum freshman admission requirements. (Requirements are unique to each institution.)

  1. Have at least a 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale on all college coursework attempted without grade forgiveness.  (Some universities may have a higher GPA requirement.)
     
  2. Meet the general education requirements of a university if the general education requirements are not met at the community college. Although many community college general education requirements will apply, the 11 state universities’ requirements differ from those at Chipola.
     
  3. Meet the state English and mathematics requirements mandated by the Gordon Rule. (Gordon Rule courses differ from institution to institution.)
     
  4. Meet the CLAST requirements prior to being admitted into the upper division of a university.
     
  5. Take placement exams during orientation.
     
  6. Have transcripts evaluated.

    a.    Transfer credits are evaluated based on the specific university's requirements.  Often, courses and requirements do not match and students lose credits.  The more credits being transferred, the greater the chance that credits will be lost.

    b.    The forgiveness policies may differ; repeated courses are re-evaluated based on the state universities' policies.
