Mission Statement

The Division of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies is committed to the training, education, and advancement of its respective professions.  The Division wishes to provide the best possible education to our students through dedicated, caring teaching, constant updating of materials and techniques, and creating a strong relationship among students, faculty, and the community.

To be successful in their respective professions, our students must not only possess a common core of knowledge, but must also develop their critical thinking, organizational, communication, interpersonal, and research skills.  These qualities are cultivated through the curriculum and through opportunities to work in the community.

We believe that our programs should be made available to traditional students as well as those who are practicing in their professions and wish to upgrade their skills.  With this in mind, we are committed to reaching populations that are in need of our educational programs.  The Division also supports research and creative endeavors that result in contributions that are public and tangible, and which can provide opportunities for students to participate in the discovery of knowledge.
