Chipola College is kicking off the 2026-27 academic year with a new annual campaign, “Freedom to Become,” celebrating the opportunities education provides students to discover their path, pursue their goals and become who they are meant to be.

Each year, Chipola develops an annual theme that serves as a unifying message for the college community and reflects its mission of providing accessible, high-quality educational opportunities. This year’s campaign also comes at a significant moment in our nation’s history as America celebrates its 250th anniversary.

“Freedom to Become” draws inspiration from the ideals of freedom and opportunity while bringing them directly back to the students Chipola serves.

“At Chipola, freedom is more than an idea—it’s opportunity,” said Chipola College President Dr. Sarah Clemmons. “It’s the freedom to choose a path, discover a talent, build a career, change direction and create a future. Every day, our faculty and staff help give students the tools and confidence they need to become whatever comes next.”

Throughout the year, the campaign will highlight the many ways Chipola creates opportunities for students—whether they plan to transfer to a university, enter the workforce, earn a bachelor’s degree, begin a healthcare career, learn a skilled trade or simply take the first step toward a new future.

The campaign will also tell the stories of Chipola alumni who have used their education as a foundation for what they have become. Alumni representing a variety of careers and paths will be featured throughout the year, sharing how their experiences at Chipola helped open doors and prepare them for opportunities beyond the college.

The theme will extend across campus through student activities, employee initiatives, special events, marketing and storytelling. Supporting messages such as Freedom to Learn, Freedom to Lead, Freedom to Serve, Freedom to Rise and Freedom to Inspire will help showcase the many ways the Chipola experience impacts students and the communities they go on to serve.

The campaign also provides a natural connection to America’s 250th anniversary, recognizing that education has long played an important role in creating opportunity and strengthening communities.

“For nearly 80 years, Chipola has been a place where people come to figure out what’s next,” said Meri Mock, Chipola’s Public information Officer. “We wanted this campaign to feel bigger than a slogan. ‘Freedom to Become’ is about possibility. Our students arrive with different goals and different ideas of what their futures might look like, and our job is to help give them the opportunity to get there.”

From students taking their first college class to graduates building careers, serving their communities and leading in their professions, Freedom to Become will celebrate both the opportunities available at Chipola and what students choose to do with them.

As Chipola welcomes students for the 2026-27 year on August 24th, the message is simple: Your future is yours to create. Your path is yours to choose. It is YOUR Freedom to Become.
