Chipola Math Olympic Winners

Some 136 students representing 14 area High schools, including two Christian schools, participated in the 36th Annual Chipola Math Olympiad on March 18.

Students competed individually on written exams in Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry and Scholarship. Teams competed in three Ciphering competitions and for Team Awards that are earned through highest combined scores on the written exams. The students earned medals and trophies, and were treated to lunch. The event concluded with an awards ceremony in the Cultural Center.

Overall team winners are: first, Blountstown HS, team members: Waylon Davis, David Simon-Ahuilar, Elizabeth Terry; second (tie) Altha HS, team members: Katie Barth, Dillon Adams, Christina Jones, and Chipley HS, team members: Hill Holley, Nathaniel McFadden, Sydney Black.

Ciphering team winners are:

Algebra I— first, Blountstown HS, team members: London Lane, David Simon-Aguilar, Miles Gokson; second Altha HS, team members: William O’Bryan, Kasey Foreman, Katie Barth.

Algebra II— first, Chipley HS, team members: Sarah Laursen, Sydney Black, Hayden Register; second Marianna HS, team members: Alexis Holden, Tim Horton.

Geometry—first, Cottondale HS, team members: Jeremy Cassatt, Linkon Drummond, Wyatt Speers; second, Altha HS, team members: Dillon Adams Alena Brobst, Reagan Roberts.
