Students from Chipola College’s Student Support Services (SSS) program recently attended the Florida A&M University (FAMU) Fall Preview Day, gaining firsthand exposure to the academic opportunities, vibrant campus life, and student support resources available at one of Florida’s leading public universities.

The visit provided SSS participants with the chance to engage with faculty, staff, and current FAMU students, while also exploring admissions requirements, scholarship opportunities, and degree programs. Highlights of the day included:

  • Academic Showcase – Students toured FAMU’s colleges and schools, learning more about majors in health sciences, engineering, business, and the arts.
  • Campus Life Experience – Attendees explored student organizations, Greek life, and leadership opportunities that enrich the FAMU experience.
  • Financial Aid & Scholarship Resources – SSS students participated in sessions highlighting FAMU’s financial aid services and strategies for funding a four-year degree.
  • Campus Tour – The group experienced FAMU’s historic “Highest of Seven Hills” campus, including the Marching 100 practice field, student union, and residential areas.

For many SSS students, this was their first visit to Florida A&M University, making the event an invaluable step in their college transfer and career planning journey.

“Trips like these help our students see themselves thriving at a university after their time at Chipola,” said Kristie Mosley, Director of Student Support Services. “It’s about exposure, preparation, and empowerment—helping our students pursue greatness beyond Chipola.”

The SSS program at Chipola College is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and provides academic advising, tutoring, mentoring, cultural enrichment, and transfer assistance to help students succeed in higher education.
