Chipola Women Play Wednesday, April 21, in National Tournament

The Chipola College Lady Indians plays the winner of Moberly and Eastern Arizona, Wednesday, April 21, at 5 p.m. CST in the NJCAA National Women’s Basketball Championship in Lubbock, TX.

Games are pay-per-view on NJCAA TV at https://stats.njcaa.org/network The championship game of the national tourney is Saturday, April 24, at 3 p.m. CST.

Chipola defeated Gulf Coast, 55-45, to claim the FCSAA State Championship. State tournament MVP DeMyla Brown leads the Lady Indians into the national tourney with three other members of the state all-tournament team: Isadora Sousa, Jordan McLaughlin and Shimei Muhammad. Chipola head coach Greg Franklin was named the FCSAA Coach of the Year. 

The state title is Chipola’s seventh women’s hoops championship in school history. In his ninth season at Chipola, Coach Greg Franklin has accounted for 3 state championships with 2 second place finishes and a national title in 2015.
