Jackson Hospital Holds Shadowing Orientation For Chipola Students

Published:

Chipola College students recently attended a Shadowing Orientation at Jackson Hospital sponsored by Chipola’s Pre-med Society, Honors Program and the Center for Career and Alumni Development.

Jackson Hospital Clinical Educator, Melissa Rich, talked with students about policies and procedures for shadowing, as well as job opportunities in healthcare.

Many graduate programs in healthcare require shadowing hours of their applicants. By shadowing early in their academic careers, Chipola students can take advantage of the hospital’s proximity and their openness to work with Chipola students. Shadowing also offers students a chance to get a feel for various positions which can either reinforce their current educational paths or encourage them to choose new paths.

Belinda Stephens, Chipola Career Center & Alumni Development Coordinator, says, “We express our sincere appreciation for the Jackson Hospital staff, especially Ronni Bowen and Melissa Rich, for offering this opportunity for our students during a time of unprecedented stress in medicine.”
