The Neel Family Donates $5,000 to Chipola TRiO Society Supporting Student Services

The Neel family has once again demonstrated their commitment to educational opportunity with a $5,000 donation to the Chipola TRiO Society in honor of Jean Beall Neel. This generous contribution directly supports programs and activities that help students succeed academically and personally. Without donations like this, several key student activities would not be possible.
Jean Beall Neel, a lifelong resident of Washington County, firmly believed in expanding access to education. The Neel family’s gift continues her legacy by ensuring that Chipola students have the resources, guidance, and experiences needed to thrive.
The TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) program at Chipola serves more than 140 students each year. It provides tutoring, mentoring, academic advising, cultural enrichment, and transfer opportunities for eligible students.
Private donations such as this help the TRiO Society club go beyond the basics—funding leadership development, cultural experiences, and university visits that prepare students for the next step in their educational journey.
“This donation ensures our students don’t just get by—they Pursue Greatness,” said Kristie Mosley, Director of Student Support Services. “In 2025-2026, our theme coincides with Chipola College’s theme Pursue Greatness, TRiO Leads the Way. Gifts like this allow us to provide the student activities, enrichment, and leadership opportunities that keep our program vibrant and our students engaged.”
Many of the student-driven initiatives at Chipola—including service projects, leadership workshops, and cultural experiences—would not be possible without the generosity of supporters like the Neel family. Their contribution helps ensure TRiO students not only persist and graduate, but also grow into leaders who give back to the community.
As Chipola College continues to embrace its theme, Pursue Greatness. This donation highlights the power of partnership between families, the college, and the community in shaping student success.
