Wells Selected FCSAA Theatre Student of The Month

Chipola College sophomore Elijah Wells was selected as the Florida College System Activities Association Theatre Division Student of the Month for January 2022.

Wells is enrolled as a Theatre Performance major and was nominated by Chipola College Theatre Director Raines Carr.

“Elijah is an intelligent ray of sunshine that brings positivity and a great attitude to every part of the class, productions, clubs, and his social life here at Chipola. It took a little bit of time for Elijah to come out of his shell, but when he did he blew us all away with the depth and breadth of his work in class. He is a class favorite and his acting work is always top-notch. He has a very bright future ahead of him and is applying to many colleges to further his theatrical education in the Fall,” Chipola Theatre Director Raines Carr said.  “This semester he landed the leading role of Algernon in our Spring production of The Importance of Being Earnest with his wit, talent, and willingness to go for it at the auditions. This is his first lead role at Chipola and it is sadly his final semester with us. Elijah leads by example and shows his classmates there is power in a reserved attitude. He never needs to show off or overdo it. He is truly himself and prides himself on being at the top of the pack. His competitive spirit is infectious and I see nothing but good things for him in the future.

Wells is the Vice President of the Chipola Players Club and is involved in some capacity with all of the activities and productions in the theatre department. In the Spring of 2021, Elijah was the recipient of the first annual Chipola Players Thespis Award for an Outstanding Emerging Actor. The award is based on five criteria: Academics, Attitude, Aptitude in performance classes, Willingness to be a part of an ensemble, Involvement in Chipola Theatre classes, shows, and outreach.
