Brookins is Coach of the Year

Coach Kelly Brookins has been honored as the South Atlantic District B Coach of the Year, a testament to her outstanding leadership of the Chipola College Lady Indians softball team. This recognition highlights her significant contributions to the program and her dedication to excellence in collegiate athletics .

Brookins, a 2004 graduate of Liberty County High School, began her collegiate playing career at Chipola College, where she earned Second Team All-Conference honors. She continued her education and athletic career at Nova Southeastern University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Sports and Recreation Management in 2008. Returning to Chipola in 2011, she served as an assistant coach for a decade, during which the Lady Indians secured two NJCAA National Championships (2015 and 2019) and two runner-up finishes (2016 and 2018) .

In July 2021, Brookins was appointed head coach of the Lady Indians. Under her leadership, the team has achieved an impressive overall record of 94–60 over three seasons, reflecting her commitment to maintaining the program's winning tradition.

This Coach of the Year award not only celebrates Brookins' coaching achievements but also underscores her role in fostering a culture of success and resilience within the Chipola College softball program.
