Chipola College Celebrates Brain Bowl Day and State Championship Victory
Chipola College celebrated Brain Bowl Day on March 31, 2026, recognizing the achievements and continued success of the college’s nationally recognized academic team.
The celebration followed another major milestone for the program, as the Brain Bowl team captured the Florida College System Activities Association State Championship during the March 27–28 tournament at Florida State College at Jacksonville. The victory marks Chipola’s 14th state title and continues a strong run at the state level. Team members included Ian Hatcher, Devin Tharp, and Jeremy Scurlock.
“This team continues to set the standard for excellence,” said Stan Young, Brain Bowl sponsor. “Winning another state championship after competing at the national level speaks to their preparation, talent, and dedication.”
Earlier in the season, Chipola earned its third consecutive national title at the National Academic Quiz Tournaments Community College Championship Tournament, bringing the program’s total to six national championships.
Brain Bowl Day highlighted not only this year’s accomplishments, but also the program’s long-standing legacy of success, including championship teams, standout students, and the support of coaches, faculty, and the community.
