Higher Learning Commission Application |
Chipola College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The College has applied for institutional accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) through HLC’s Accelerated Process for Initial Accreditation and currently holds no status with HLC. Chipola College will maintain its SACSCOC accreditation until such time, if any, as initial accreditation is granted by HLC. Types of Accreditation and Approval |
Chipola College holds three different kinds of recognition, and they are not interchangeable:
- Institutional accreditation
- Applies to the College as a whole and is what makes the College eligible to participate in federal student financial aid programs.
- Programmatic accreditation
- Applies to an individual program of study and is granted by an agency specific to that field. A program without separate programmatic accreditation is still covered by the College’s institutional accreditation.
- State licensure or approval
- Granted by a Florida agency or board and governs whether a graduate may be licensed or sit for a licensing examination in that field.
Holding one of these does not imply the others.
