Course Description:
This course covers an introduction to network security, concepts, terminology and a basic understanding of available network security methods and programs. Topics include legal issues and policies, managing risks, identifying types of attacks, information security best practices, E-Commerce needs and intrusion detection platform-specific implementations. This course prepares students for CompTIA Security+ or Microsoft Security Fundaments (MTA) industry certification. This course includes both lecture and structured lab experiences.

Prerequisites:

Acceptable college ready placement score in reading or successful completion of appropriate college-prep reading course(s).

CTS 1110 and CTS 1131, or equivalent certifications or consent of department
